Chocolat! holiday in France

We had a lovely time in France and enjoyed cooking and eating lots of chocolate treats. Below are 2 of the recipes we used, make them yourselves to see what we have enjoyed.

Penny’s Breakaway Brownies – From the farmhouse kitchen in France

Melt 4oz butter and 4oz dark chocolate gently together. Stir in 8oz caster sugar, 2 beaten eggs, 4oz plain flour with 1/2 tsp baking powder and 4oz chopped walnuts (optional).Bake for 1/2 hour and 180. Cool in the tin and then slice into squares. Enjoy with friends.

Chef Michael’s Chocolate Mousse – From the Auberge kitchen

Melt 200g dark (60%) chocolate with a knob of butter. Separate 6 eggs carefully, whisk the egg whites until stiff, then whisk in 1 tbsp sugar. Lightly beat the egg yolks then mix into the melted chocolate. Pour the chocolate mixture onto the egg whites and fold in gently. Pour into serving glasses and chill. Delicious!

Breakaway Disco

We had a great time at our disco last month, and it was lovely to see so many of you there. We hope you all enjoyed the Eurovision theme, we had some great outfits. Josh Dubobie was a big hit with his beautiful voice, lots of you even got pictures with him and signed cds. We are looking forward to a great year of holidays and can’t wait to see you all soon.

2012 Cruise to New York and The Caribbean

Paralympic Games Break London

We now have our tickets for the Paralympic Games the Break will be from the 3rd-5th September 2012. We will be spending a day in the Olympic park and a day in the Excel arena. Both days will be filled watching different sporting events.

PROPOSED CUTS TO THE DLA BUDGET

PROPOSED CUTS TO THE DLA BUDGET
Some customers have reported being worried that their
Disability Living Allowance (DLA) may be cut by 20%.
Breakway Holidays has investigated Government plans
and can confirm this is NOT the case. The Government
is reforming the system (the new law to do so has not
yet been passed) and hopes to save money overall.
However, that does NOT mean the amount of money
you receive will be reduced.

The Minister for Disabled People, Maria Miller MP,
recently said, "We are dealing here with a benefit which
is one of the largest benefits that's paid in the UK and
that we need to make sure it's getting to the people
who need it most."

The Department for Work & Pensions have also
issued a statement:

"The system we have at the moment is not fit for purpose
and is failing disabled people."We are reforming welfare
to make sure that the billions we spend on benefits goes
to those who need it and that for the first time disabled
people get proper help and support to live independent
lives..."
