Do you hold enhanced CRB checks on all your staff?
Yes, all couriers and taxi drivers hold enhanced CRB checks
Are the staff medically trained?
Our staff attend basic medical training sessions, and have a Courier Guide detailing what to do in different situations. In an emergency we always use the emergency services of the country we are visiting.
What is the staff to customer ratio?
Usually 2:7, although we can offer 1:1 support if requested
Are the holidays suitable for wheelchair users?
Many of our holidays are wheelchair accessible. We have an adapted ground floor room at our Yarmouth Guest House.
Are you able to communicated with sign language?
Some of our staff team can communicate with Makaton
Do you offer 1:1 support?
1:1 support is available - please call the office for more information
How much money will I need to bring?
You will normally just need spending money for lunches, drinks, souvenirs and entrance fees (although some entrance fees are included as part of your holiday - see brochure for details)
What happens if I need to return home due to illness?
All our customers are required to take out travel insurance to cover the cost of illness and returning home if necessary. We will take care of you if you become ill when away, and will support you and your carers in making any necessary arrangements.
Do you offer a door to door service?
Yes. Our holidays leave from a central meeting point, however you can upgrade to our door to door service at an extra cost.
Will I be able to have my own room?
We usually offer twin room accommodation. However you can request a single room when making your booking and these are usually available for a supplement.
Do I require holiday insurance?
Yes, all customers are required to take out personal holiday insurance, and to send us details of the cover they have.
Are your holidays suitable for adults with autism?
Most holidays are suitable for adults with autism. We recommend that you contact the office to discuss your support requirements.
Will the staff be there during the night?
Our couriers are with you all the time. We do not offer a waking night service, but we will always be there to help if you have a problem.
Can a carer or family member come with me on holiday?
It is sometimes possible for a carer or family member to travel with you. The cost of the holiday for them is usually 75% of the basic price, but the full price on hotel breaks.
Will I need to bring my passport?
You will need a valid passport for all holidays to Europe and the USA and on all holidays that include a flight.
What age do I have to be to travel with Breakaway?
Breakaway Holidays are available for anyone over 18 (up to 80!). Breakaway Active holidays are for customers aged 17-35 only.
What range of disabilities do you cater for?
We cater for a wide range of disabilities. Our holidays are suitable for people who are quite independent, but we also offer support to people needing 1:1 help.
Can anyone with a learning disability travel on your holidays?
Our holidays are suitable for anyone over 18 with a learning disability. However we do not provide holidays for people who physically challenge others.
Do you have vehicles with wheelchair access?
We have 2 renault minibuses with tail-lift wheelchair access.
Are you CQC registered?
We are in the process of registering our staff team with CQC and should have registration in place by our summer season.
How long have you been running the holidays?
Breakaway have been delivering great supported holidays for over 14 years!
Can I go on holiday with my friends?
You are welcome to book to travel with your friends and if you are travelling alone we are sure you will soon make new friends.
Can I choose what I do on my holiday?
Yes - your couriers will ask you what kind of things you want to do and will then make sure everyone gets to do the things they like.
