Penny
Penny established Breakaway in 1998, (having previously worked for local government in day centre and college settings with adults with learning disabilities for 8 years) and has since been responsible for organising over 700 holidays. As Director of the company a lot of Penny’s time is spent in the office planning the trips and organising our courier teams, however she still loves to accompany the holidays whenever possible and to spend time with
our customers.
Kevin
Kevin is the proprietor of our Active Holidays. Qualified in Social Work, his career began in 1974 working in local government with people with learning disabilities (Originally Redbridge followed by Havering and Essex). Having worked as the Manager of a day centre for many years, as the Registered Manager of a residential home, Community Support Manager and in Transition (young adults moving from Child to Adult Services) his experience is extensive. He is 100% committed to providing the best holiday possible.
Wendy
Wendy has been with breakaway for 5 years and has delivered many wonderful holidays. Wendy is a firm favourite with many of our customers, she always ensures the holidays are great fun and also offers all the support our customers require.
Angela
Angela works in our office organising the itineraries for the breaks. Angela also accompanies some of our trips, and is famous for her delicious home-cooked meals!
Emily
Emily works full-time in the Breakaway office, where she is on hand to help you with all your holidays enquires. Emily holds a diploma in Performing Arts and Musical Theatre and accompanies groups on our Drama and Theatre trips.
Annika
Annika is a young lively courier who has worked for 7 years with people with learning disabilities. Annika holds an NVQ level 3 in Social Care and supports a number of active holidays.
Elena
Elena has worked with Breakaway for the past 2 years. Elena is studying midwifery at University and accompanies holidays in the summer as one of our valuable part-time courier team.
David
David is a member of our courier team, and is invaluable on our mini-breaks, where he is on hand to help with all practical things; David designs bird feeders and nesting boxes for our Spring and Autumn breaks, and enjoys helping our customers make wonderful gifts to take home.
Kurt & Esther
Kurt and Esther are two more members of our part-time courier team. Kurt is a support worker with people with learning disabilities. Kurt and Esther accompany our active camping holidays, bringing loads of energy and enthusiasm!
Anita
Anita worked for several years in residential placements and brings with her a wealth of experience. Anita joined us in February and is already becoming a firm favourite with our customers.
Rita
Rita has worked with SENSE for seven years and brings a wealth of experience to our team. Rita has already met quite a few of our customers and is looking forward to meeting more of you over the summer months.
Tamar
Tamar is a teacher and football coach who has worked with young people with special needs. Tamar is working with us for part of our summer season.
Elizabeth
Elizabeth has worked with Breakaway from the start and is therefore our longest serving employee! Elizabeth works in the office and is happy to help with all invoice enquires.
Kelly
Kelly has been working in the breakaway office for 2 years. Kelly is responsible for the post and our paper recycling. Kelly also helps Emily keep the office clean and tidy!
Misha
Misha holds NVQ qualifications in Health and Social Care and has worked with adults with special needs in residential placements. Misha is full of energy and enthusiasm to deliver great holidays.
